A bit of my philosophy:
Someone trusts us to tell their story; someone allows us to convey a character’s feeling and viewpoint and audiences embrace this empathically, feel and discuss a matter with us, allowing us their time and their hearts. This cannot be underestimated! A well-told story can make an argument that brings people together. We are narrative creatures.
To contribute to society by sharing in, collaboratively shaping and focusing our dialogue as people is the function of story - is why we need art.
